I appreciate CM's adding the grant writer position I suggested with CM Baker's support and input, to the suggested allocations! Should we make it more clear to the public that this position will support our non-profits working with our neighbors experiencing homelessness or working to prevent homelessness, in obtaining disaster relief funding available now as well as other grants available to support their efforts in the long haul? As we discuss, I will make more clear during my presentation.
I'd also like to know how many more steps/meetings/approvals from ARP we need to go through before we can post the position. I know it can take months and sometimes years when dealing with Federal funding. Our hope is that after Tuesday’s meeting that Council will have provided sufficient direction so that we can bring back a resolution on July 6th to finalize the plan for the funding already received from US Treasury. We will also need to do a budget amendment to allocate the funds. The good thing with this program is that we have received ½ the allocation up front so we can begin spending as soon as budget established and direction given.
