Response provided by Office of Emergency Management, Utilities, Communications/IGR, and Neighborhood Enhancement:
When will be Alert Towers be in operation? (I thought they were.)
The towers are still being brought to operational standards. Delays were due to several items, shortage of supplies, bad weather and short staffing. American Signal will be here this month to finish the work and start the testing of the towers.
Do we have email addresses and phone numbers for residents who register with the Utilities Dept?
Yes, we have access to the email addresses and phone numbers of residents who register with the Utilities Department. This enables us to send email and text notifications to our customers.
Did we use those to notify anyone about the cleanup assistance we would provide?
No, we did not use those contact methods to notify anyone about the cleanup assistance we would provide. We will consider using this information in the future for non-emergency notifications that affects a majority of our residents.
Why didn't we use the Warn Central Texas system to notify residents out the cleanup assistance we would provide?
We reserve the Warn Central Texas notification system for emergencies only. Using this system for non-emergency notifications is not appropriate, as it sets a bad precedent and can have unintended consequences. Specifically, residents might remove themselves from the notification list if they receive messages that are not urgent, potentially missing critical alerts in the future.
FYI, "Texas Baptist Men" have changed their name to "Texans on Mission."
We were told we could use either name. They are changing to Texans on Mission. We were keeping consistent with our messaging that went out.
The Citizen Reporting page (slide 17) would be a great place to actually put the web address or website clicks to find how to report.
We will add this to the page.
