Consider approval of Resolution 2022-12R, authorizing an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for the City of San Marcos to assume operation and maintenance of existing traffic signals due to an increased population exceeding 50,000 as required by state law and an agreement for the installation and reimbursement to the City for the operation and maintenance of traffic signals in the minimum annual amount of $21,824.88; authorizing the City Manager or his designee to execute the agreements on behalf of the City; and declaring an effective date.

On the ARF it states:
Prior to the 2020 Census, the City received from the Texas Department of Transportation $161,424 per year to maintain
traffic signals on the state highway system.
How much does it cost to maintain these traffic signals annually? Was the $161,424 reimbursement for actual costs or an estimate and it really cost more?
How many traffic signals do we have that weren't TxDOT maintained? (I can recall when there were only 4 and I could name them all at that time.)

The traffic signal maintenance costs vary from year to year. However, $161,424 is an average actual cost. Last year, the City spent $172,754 in traffic signal maintenance.
