Consider approval of Resolution 2021-210R, approving the filing of an application with the Texas Water Development Board seeking financial assistance in connection with the
Briarwood and River Ridge Improvements project; designating an authorized representative to act on behalf of the City for the purpose of furnishing information and executing documents that may be required in connection with the preparation and filing of the application; designating firms and individuals authorized and directed to aid and assist
the City in the preparation and submission of the application for financial assistance and to appear on behalf of and represent the City in any hearing held by the Texas Water Development Board on the application; and declaring an effective date

That's a lot of property for the detention pond etc. How much do we expect this will relieve flooding in the area, including the fire station? Generally speaking.

Response provided by Rey Garcia, Senior Engineer:

The latest option includes channel improvements behind Grande, a storm sewer addition behind Grifols and adjacent to the Telluride Apartments all that drain into a proposed detention pond next to and behind Hilton Garden Inn. Localized inundation depths are reduced in these areas as well as the surrounding area by improved conveyance through storm sewer and channel improvements. Intuitively, increased pond volume will help localized flooding across the IH-35 frontage road as well as provide more storage capacity for the new storm sewer draining into the pond. More specific information is currently being developed through additional flood modeling that incorporates the increased pond size.
