Consider approval of Resolution 2023-72R, approving the purchase of a 2024 Spartan Pumper Truck from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc. through the HGAC contract FS12-19 for use by the Fire Department in the amount of $1,027,778.00; authorizing the City Manager or her designee to execute the appropriate purchasing documents on behalf of the City; and declaring an effective date.

How much of the optional equipment we purchased for the relatively new truck no longer in service can be used on the new truck?

Response provided by Fire Chief Les Stephens:

TML paid us for the apparatus and all the equipment that was permanently affixed to it by the manufacturer. Examples: siren, emergency lighting, light bar, seats, seatbelts, Sierra wireless MG90 router, Opticom transmitter.

They did not pay us for loose equipment and items that were installed by Metro Fire Apparatus. We were able to remove and will re-use all those items. Examples: all supply and firefighting hose, nozzles, appliances, axes, firefighting equipment, radios, Knox box key secure device, EMS cabinets, console, I-pad mounts, pump intakes, LED light tower, etc.

We did end up having to purchase two new ladders (24’ and a 16’) because they were thrown from the apparatus during the accident.
