Consider approval of Ordinance 2021-39, on the first of two readings, amending Chapter 6, Animals, to allow for the keeping of miniature goats in Conventional Residential Zoning Districts and establish associated regulations; providing a savings clause; providing for the repeal of any conflicting provisions; and providing an effective date.

Just for clarification does House Bill 1686 have any effect on this ordinance? If so can you clarify.

How does House Bill 1686 effect our current ordinance on fowl and rabbits?

Response provided by Director of Neighborhood Enhancement, Greg Carr:
HB 1686 doesn’t have any effect on this ordinance. It specifically calls out allowing 6 Domestic fowl (chickens) which our ordinance already allows 7; allowing 3 bee hives which our ordinance already allows 4; and allowing 6 rabbits which we do not have any restrictions on at this time.
We will not be impacted if this bill passes.

The bill could have an impact for property owners associations as it limits the same conditions to restrictive covenants.
