Response provided by Police Chief Standridge:
Mayor Hughson:
Slide 26, what is C.A.R.E.?
C.A.R.E. stands for Collaborative Approaches to a Resilient Environment.

Slide 27, what are these things and what do they do?
GrayKey allows video searching for key “search elements” versus a staff member having to watch hours of videos.

DroneSense allows for remote viewing of drone footage across all authorized users.

BriefCam is literally a “seeing eye ball” that has “eyes” in a 360 degree setup. When introduced into a tactical environment (think barricaded person), it helps us see all things inside.

The WASP3 allows SWAT to hear into other rooms and/or see under doors.

Magnum Mobile Services is a vendor that provided us with pan tilt zoom cameras, which we need more of. They are the equivalent of placing a 4K camera on a business and capturing vehicles, people, etc.

Pole and FLOCK cameras capture vehicle information along ingress/egress routes, as well as high-crime neighborhoods. Pole cameras are typically placed in areas of known issues and left for long periods of time, since their installation is more extensive. Think weeks, not days.

Slide 33, what are PSS's?
PSS stands for Public Safety Specialists. These are civilians that will be hired to handle investigations that do not necessitate police officers. For example: car burglary where there is no suspect at the scene, but a report and/or fingerprints need to be taken.
Where will the pan tilt zoom cameras for high crime areas be installed?
I would prefer to not disclose the locations of pole cameras or pan tilt zoom cameras. These are used in response to specific crime trends and/or people. They can be moved based on operational needs, versus the FLOCK cameras that are hard-mounted on traffic signal poles.

Cameras solve so many problems. For example, the shooting at Cuauhtemoc Hall was solved the next week due to camera footage, resulting in the arrest of one person and the recovery of a stolen 40 mm handgun and multiple computers.
