Response to Mayor provided by Les Stephens, Fire Chief:
MobileEyes is a powerful web-based program that assists the fire marshal’s office with:
- Tracking inspections;
- Occupancy inventories;
- Sharing occupancy data across departments;
- Scheduling Inspections-both original and re-inspections;
- Tracking of fire watch orders-this was critical during the winter storm.
As an example, all of the apartment inspections are tracked and scheduled in MobileEyes based on their high-risk category. Once an inspection has been completed and violations noted, the inspection will automatically be rescheduled until the violations are cleared. In this way we can monitor the big picture view of the overall fire safety of apartments and other occupancies.
The data put into MobileEyes is readily available in the field during emergencies.
MobileEyes is used to track occupancy inspection schedules based on best practice for occupancy hazard classes. This helps achieve a better community risk reduction score which is one of the grading areas for ISO.
MobileEyes increases efficiency in tracking and achieving compliance with the adopted fire code. This reduces liability associated with known fire safety violations by ensuring that violations are resolved. We started using MobileEyes in June of 2019. Since that time, we have completed approximately 9647 inspections. During these inspections 5870 violations were noted. We have achieved a 90% rate of compliance despite inspection difficulties experienced during the pandemic.
MobileEyes does increase efficiency by reducing the amount of time spent on the documentation and tracking of inspections. Its greatest attribute is its ability to maintain and ensure accurate and timely follow up inspections.
