Consider approval of Resolution 2021-79R, approving a contract with Musco Sports
Lighting, LLC, through the Texas BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative, in the amount of
$847,000.00 for the purchase and replacement of existing light poles and fixtures at the
adult softball fields at the Gary Sports Complex; authorizing the City Manager or his
designee to execute the contract on behalf of the City; and declaring an effective date.

Response provided by Drew Wells:
The lights are set on wooden poles that are over 20yrs old. These poles are twisted, which affects the quality of light on the fields. This is a hazard. The lights have electrical wiring and ballast issues. The light ballast are now hard to attain and the metal halide lights are inefficient. We have had one light pole in the parking lot snap at ground level due to rot. It is our fear that since all the wooden poles were installed at the same time and that this could happen to the poles on the field. Metal poles are the standard for athletic fields now as are LED fixtures.
