Consider approval of Resolution 2023-185R, approving the purchase of a Smeal aerial fire apparatus for the Fire Department from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc., through the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Program contract, and the purchase of other tools and equipment, in the amount of $2,300,000.00; authorizing the City Manager, or her designee, to execute the appropriate purchasing documents on behalf of the city; and declaring an effective date.

Do we have a CIP-like document that lists our fire apparatus units and the proposed new/replacement units needed for the foreseeable future?

I looked at the CIP and only found a Replacement Brush Truck in 2026 and Replacement Truck in 2024 on the list for replacements. I found two for fire stations yet to be built.

Given the number of stations and trucks (using "trucks" in the generic sense) will we be soon to the point of needing to budget for a new truck every year? Or are we there now?

Responses provided by Les Stephens, Fire Chief:
The Fire Department has a replacement schedule developed for all of the existing units. Some of them may not show up yet on the 10-year CIP, but they are added when appropriate. In fact, Fire Chiefs recently stepped through the process of tentatively planning out replacement through 2061. Please see attached schedule and known facility expenses.
