Response to Mayor Hughson provided by Jamie Lee Case, Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation:
On the Stakeholder list, #4, is "Abutting neighborhoods." How will the people in those neighborhoods be contacted about the stakeholder meetings? The methods for communicating with abutting neighborhoods regarding open houses and focus groups will be in the same way neighborhoods are notified currently of open houses and community engagement opportunities - these include, but are not limited to mailers, door hangers, communications through CONA representatives and Neighborhood Commission Representatives.
On page 1 of the agreement, under #5, is "In an effort to simplify the communication process, relevant stakeholder groups are to designate one (1) representative who will coordinate all written/oral communication to the CITY." Curious as to how that will be done for the neighborhoods.
The reference above is intended specifically for work with members of large groups like the San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance or San Marcos River Foundation where membership will be asked to select a spokesperson to participate in meetings with staff and the consultant. We would look to CONA or the Neighborhood Commission representative again for a single member representative since they are already in that role to represent a specific neighborhood. Public Open House opportunities will be available as well to ensure all that want to provide comments or feedback have the opportunity.
