Response to Mayor provided by Amanda Hernandez, Assistant Director of Planning:
The applicant provided a letter of intent with justification for removing the fenced area and gate (see attached). In summary, the fence and gate conflicts with the open and walkable intent of the existing zoning, CD-5, on the property. Without the gate and fence, the applicant stated that it promotes walkability and pedestrian access between the two different blocks created in the development so residents can easily walk throughout the development to access the public sidewalks/greenway. The applicant also stated that removing the fenced area and gate will save on project cost.
